My Disney confessions

This post might not go where you think it will, this isn't going to be admitting to all my Disney confessions you might be expecting, how I've met very Princess or been to all Disney parks around the world, neither of which I have actually managed. In fact this is going to be me confessing some shocking things that some may say I should be ashamed to call myself a Disney fan due to ;)

It was during a latest Disney bloggers chat (if you don't know about that, its on twitter at 8pm GMT on a Thursday so come join in) and talk turned to Princess and the frog and it seemed like everyone in the chat had seen it loads and I held my hand up and admitted I'd seen it once and once only, I have this evening however changed that and watched it again but it still didn't draw me in enough to think 'ooh I must watch that way more often'. Then later that evening I was watching videos on youtube and came across Jack White while searching for Christmas DLP vlogs and he had done a video of a similar nature, honestly though Jack (I doubt you'll ever see this but in case, how the heck can you have gone all that time without seeing The Lion King? :0 really is dreadful behaviour).
Now on with my confessions, I figured 5 would be enough as I don't want to let you all down and have you all declare I'm a disgrace to the Disney community and throw me out, I hope I still have my place after this post anyway, please?

1. Now I have not come across another single Disney fan that I've ever heard say this or agree with me when I have said it, I don't like Mary Poppins AT ALL. I've tried so many times to watch and enjoy this film over the years and I just can't, I'm sorry ladies and gents but its just one of those Disney films that has never, will never or even consider having a place in my Disney heart or DVD collection.

2. Despite a number of visits to Walt Disney World now, I've still not tried a dole whip. I truly meant to on my last trip back in September, if you haven't read about it then why not? you can do so here. This is mainly for 2 reasons, firstly I somehow just seem to forget every-single-time and secondly, despite loving pineapple which I'm sure I'd appreciate in it, i hate floats so am really put off by that. Maybe next time I'll tick this one off the 'must have done to be a true Disney fanatic' list.

3. If you had read my post on my most recent WDW trip then you might be able to guess what I'm about to confess to....I've never seen the Magic Kingdom welcome show, this one truly disgusts even me, I'm ashamed, terribly ashamed of this and if I don't fix it within the next year then I may decide myself that I need to be kicked out the Disney community. I'm sorry everyone, I know its just not acceptable behaviour at all.

4. Not to hate on it or sound like some kind of Disney snob and please Disneyland Paris fans don't hate me but to me DLP just doesn't scream Disney to me. It doesn't come close to being as magical and perfect as WDW and DLR, in my opinion anyway. Don't get me wrong, the more I go the more I enjoy it and my experiences are definitely getting better, I did buy an annual pass after all so I can't dislike it that much, but as I say it will never come close to being the place in my heart that WDW and DLR are. Its great that it's so close by and easily to pop over to for a little fix when what I consider to be the main parks are out of my reach.

5. I guess I should really add another general one here or this could turn out to be more of my Disney parks confessions, so I guess confession 5 will lead me to admitting I don't own all the Classic DVDs, I know so many people seem to have collected them all over the years but I honestly don't see the point for myself because I know I just wouldn't watch them all. I do have a good collection of Disney DVDs but tend to stick to buying the ones I know for definite I will watch over and over again.

Well there you have it, 5 of my shameful Disney confessions, are they really bad? we can let them go right? Do you have any big Disney confessions? come on, admit it, you must have at least one or two.

  1. I have to admit I don't like Mary Poppins either it just doesn't do it for me unfortunately, to the point that it doesn't even seem like Disney.

  2. I'm exactly the same with the Classics DVDs! I've recently started collecting them but I'm only buying the ones I know I'll watch and enjoy as there's a lot I'll probably never touch! Great idea for a post :) x

    1. Same with me, I just know someone of them I'll never even bother with so I'd rather save the money for something else than buy them just to collect. Thank you, you must do it yourself :)
